Flotilla 46

Flotilla 46 is based in Dunellen, New Jersey, and is the sixth Flotilla in Division 04.

The Division currently has 6 Flotillas with about 225 members working for the public everyday.

The Flotilla has over 24 members participating in the four Auxiliary cornerstones:

Recreational Boating Safety includes:

Coast Guard and State Support includes

Member Services Includes:

Fellowship is the good company of other Auxiliarists at meetings and training sessions, on patrols and other missions, and at ceremonies and social events.  One of the Auxiliary's trademarks is good old-fashioned hospitality.  Friends, neighbors and interested members of the public are always welcome to attend one of our flotilla meetings.

In addition, dedication to boating safety provides the atmosphere for getting together to swap boating experiences and participate in cruises and rendezvous. You'll find a special camaraderie among Auxiliarists that's hard to beat. There's time to relax and have fun at Auxiliary outings, training sessions, patrols, VSC's, Public Education Classes, and conferences.

Auxiliarists make lasting, meaningful friendships.  Knowing that you belong to a special group of people and directly participate in helping save lives gives USCG Auxiliary Membership a special meaning.

Where and How We Operate

Where and How We Operate

Sandy Hook is a 6 1/2 mile long barrier peninsula that includes miles of guarded ocean beaches for swimming and other beaches for fishing, as well as hiking trails, salt marshes and the historic site of Fort Hancock.  The tip of the Hook overlooks the entrance to New York Harbor and is the northern point along the New Jersey Shore.  Sandy Hook is part of the National Park Service's Gateway National Recreation Area.  Sandy Hook is home to Sandy Hook Light, a National Historic Landmark.

Division 4 is one division in First District Southern.  District One (North and South) covers the coastal waters from Maine, South to Northern NJ. The members of Division 4 patrol the  waters surrounding Sandy Hook:

Sandy Hook Bay, Raritan Bay, Lower Bay, portions of the approach to New York Harbor, and the Raritan, Navesink, and Shrewsbury Rivers, including the Outerbridge Reach up to the Outerbridge Crossing; and are ready at a moments notice to respond to any  emergency.  The members of Division 4 live by the words Semper Paratus (Always Ready).

In addition to Safety Patrols, the members of Flotilla 46 perform Search and Rescues, (SARs), Vessel Safety Checks or VSCs (formerly known as Courtesy Marine Examinations or CMEs), conduct Boating Safety Classes, assist the US Coast Guard in their various missions, promote Boating Safety, and enjoy sharing Fellowship with other Auxiliarists.

If you would like to become a member, or just want to find out more about the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, please come to one of our monthly meetings held on the third Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Dunellen American Legion, Post 119, 137 New Market Road, Dunellen, NJ .
