Immediately report any incident related to
terrorism or possible terrorist activity by calling the
National
Response Center at 1-800-424-8802. In addition to suspicious
activities on the water, this includes bombings, bomb threats, suspicious
letters or packages, and incidents related to the intentional release of
chemical/biological/radioactive agents. Watch Standers have been trained to
ask specific questions for such reports and will immediately pass the
information to the proper local authorities.
You should report any of the following to the Coast Guard, Local Harbor Patrol or National Response Center at (800) 424-8802 when observed:
What to look for in recreational vessels:
Unusual boat characteristics
Any aggressive activities
Unusual filming activities
Unusual diving activities
Recovering or tossing items into/onto the waterway or shoreline
Unusual number of people on board
Lights flashing between boats and shoreline
What to Look For In Commercial Vessels
Operation / transiting and area not normally transited
Anchored in an area not typically used as an anchorage
Any unusual vessel characteristics
Any aggressive activities
Any filming activities
Divers near vessel
Unusual transfer of personnel or items while transiting
Unusual night operations
Unattended vessels
Recovering or tossing items into / onto waterway or shoreline
What to Look For at Facilities and Waterway Structures:
Fishing in locations not typically used for fishing/hunting
Any Suspicious activity
Unattended vehicles in unusual locations
Unusual vehicle characteristics
Any aggressive activities
Filming activities
Divers entering water near facility or bridge
Recovering or tossing items into / onto waterway or shoreline
Unusual night operations
Observed security changes or lack of usually observed security
Missing fencing, lighting
